The varsity boys golf team shot their second highest score of the season (354) on Sunday afternoon at Quail Hollow Country Club in Painesville. The story of the day was the impressive play of the underclass Blue Devils, as freshman Alex Heilbrun led the way with 83, and sophomore Clay Greiner followed with an 85. The highlight of Heilbrun’s day came on the par 3 11th hole, where he drained a 20 footer for birdie. Greiner threw in two birdies of his own on holes 8 and 16. Kyle Goessler had an unusual off day on day one, shooting 92. Danny Jenkins scored for the first time this season, shooting a 94 that included a back nine 44. Both of these totals were season lows for Jenkins. Chase Safko also competed in the event, shooting a 95. The Blue Devils will look to rebound in day two of the event, which will take place tomorrow morning at 9:00 am.
