Boys Varsity Golf · Blue Devils Fire Season-Low 323 in Round Two

  Place Points
Brunswick High School 5th 323

The Blue Devils boys golf team caught fire on day two of the Lion-Cardinal Classic, shooting a season-low team score of 323, which landed the boys in fifth place on the day and 11th overall. Perhaps the most impressive part of the team’s performance was the fact that it was a 31 shot improvement from day one (354). Alex Heilbrun led the way for the second straight day, shooting an impressive 78, his second-lowest score of the season. Heilbrun had three birdies on the day, including a hole out from the bunker on the par 4 13th hole. He finished in 18th overall, and had the second-lowest score of all of the freshmen that competed. Kyle Goessler rebounded (get it?) from day one, shooting 81 on day two. The highlight of Goessler’s day was draining back to back birdie putts on holes 9 and 10, both from about the free throw line. Clay Greiner finished off a solid two day effort with an 82 on Monday. Greiner also made two birdies on the day. Chase Safko improved by 13 shots from day one to two, shooting an 82 with an impressive 27 putts, including six straight one putts on the front nine. Danny Jenkins shot 97 on the day, completing his best tournament of the season as well. The Blue Devils are back in action at home against Strongsville on Wednesday. Great job boys!
