The boys varsity golf team entered Wednesday’s match 0 for 5 against the GCC-leading Mustangs this season. The Blue Devils walked away from Pine Hills with their most impressive performance of the season, a 157-158 victory that improved their match record to 7-1. Alex Heilbrun continued his impressive freshman campaign with a 1 over par 37, his lowest score on the season. He birdied holes 1 and 5. Clay Greiner also shot a season-low 38 that included two birdies on holes 2 and 7. Kyle Goessler made 6 pars and had another solid outing, carding a 39. Chase Safko drained the deciding putt on the 9th green, a 20 foot birdie that ultimately sealed the victory for Brunswick. He shot 43. Cody Merrill shot 49 and Danny Jenkins shot 56 for the blue and white. The boys varsity team will be back in action tomorrow at Pine Hills against Solon and Medina. Go Big Blue!
