Normally awarded at the Senior Awards Ceremony, the following are the recipients of the senior athletic awards from the Class of 2020 for Brunswick High School.

 

OHSAA Scholar Athlete:
The OHSAA Scholar Athlete is awarded to the graduating senior athlete with the highest cumulative GPA from the graduating class. The OHSAA Scholar Athlete Award is presented to one senior female athlete and one senior male athlete.

OHSAA Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award:
Sportsmanship, ethics and integrity are essential components of any successful athletic program.  As part of an ongoing program to promote Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity, the Ohio High School Athletic Association would like to recognize students who display exemplary sportsmanship. This award is named for Archie Griffin. Mr. Griffin is an Ohio native, the only two-time recipient of the Heisman Trophy for football, and as a professional athlete, he always displayed exemplary sportsmanship. Mr. Griffin, current CEO of The Ohio State University Alumni Association, has been active in promoting sportsmanship, ethics and integrity for many years. He was honored in 1998 as the recipient of the prestigious OHSAA Ethics and Integrity Award. The OHSAA Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award is presented to one senior female athlete and one senior male athlete.

OHSAA Courageous Student Award:
The OHSAA Courageous Student Award is presented to one senior athlete who either currently has, or who has overcome, a serious illness, injury, or disability; A student who has overcome great adversity in a positive way (challenging social or family situation); A student who has gone far beyond normal in assisting a fellow student, family member or friend; Other extraordinary situations, where a student has displayed tremendous courage against overwhelming odds.

NIAAA Award of Excellence:
This award is to be presented to a student in your school who has exhibited qualities that embody good citizenship, good moral character, and good sporting behavior. The NIAAA Award of Excellence is presented to one senior female athlete and one senior male athlete.

US Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award:
A senior letterman who is a member of a varsity team and an outstanding young citizen. The US Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award is presented to one senior female athlete and one senior male athlete.

NIAAA Scholar Athletes:
This award is to be presented to a student athlete who has participated in multiple sports during the 2019-2020 school year and has a 3.0 GPA or higher.
