Boys Varsity Golf · Boys Golf Headed Back to State Tournament


For the 2nd time in Brunswick High School history, the Boys Golf team has qualified for the OHSAA State Golf Tournament.  Led by Junior Clay Greiner’s 73 at Pine Hills Golf Club, the Blue Devils team score of 308 gave them a 1 stroke advantage over 3 teams (Glen Oak, Jackson, and Stow; all with 309’s) finishing 4th at the Pine Hills District with the top 4 teams advancing to Columbus (St. Ignatius – 290, Hoban – 300, Walsh Jesuit – 306, were the other team qualifiers from Pine Hills).  The 308 was the teams top score of 2019 and was a 20 stroke improvement from their 328 Sectional score the previous week at Barberton Brookside Golf Club.

Coach Chad Thompson who has led the Blue Devils to the State Tournament 2 of the last 3 years (having qualified in 2017), will guide Greiner, Sophomore Alex Heilburn, Seniors Chase Safko & Cody Merrill, and Freshman Max Heilbrun when they tee off on the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University on Friday October 18th and Saturday October 19th.
