Established in 2015, The Blue Devil Award will be presented to the student-athlete chosen from the pool of nominees; each head coach is permitted to nominate one student athlete from their program who they believe is deserving and who exemplifies what a student-athlete is really about. This athlete shows dedication to his/her academics and sport. The athlete that receives the Blue Devil Award is an individual that always gives 100%, no matter what the situation is, and always exhibits great sportsmanship to players and teams, while also being a great role model in our community.
On May 5th, 2019 our Brunswick community truly lost one of our most loyal and true Blue Devils with the passing of Josh Herron. Josh, a 2016 graduate of Brunswick High School had played basketball and baseball for the Blue Devils. Josh had also coached for both the boys basketball and baseball teams at BHS while attending Baldwin Wallace University. Josh’s battle with cancer was an inspiration for many, far reaching beyond our Brunswick community. Josh showed us all how to live life to the fullest, cherish what we have, and to Win the Day! Josh was a passionate young man and he loved Brunswick and he loved being a Blue Devil. He lived this passion every day both during his time as a student at BHS and as a coach.
On May 28, 2019 at the BHS Spring Sports Celebration, it was announced that the Blue Devil Award would be re-named in Josh Herron’s memory and will now be known as the “Josh Herron Blue Devil Award”.
