Varsity Baseball · Baseball Wins District Championship

For the first time since 2013, The Brunswick High School Baseball Team is headed back to the Sweet 16 as the Blue Devils captured the Division I Barberton District Championship with a 5-0 victory over Akron Firestone in the District Final.  The Blue Devils had previously defeated Wadsworth (3-2) in the District Semi-Final and Archbishop Hoban (9-3) in the Sectional Final.  The Blue Devils ran their overall record to 17-12 on the season with the victory in the District Championship.

The Blue Devils will face a familiar opponent in the Regional Semi-Final when they take on fellow GCC rival, the Mentor Cardinals (Euclid District Champion).  The Blue Devils and Cardinals split the season series, both schools winning on the road, Mentor 6-5 and Brunswick 8-0.  The semi-final game is scheduled for Thursday, May 30th with a first pitch of *5:00pm at Louisville High School (1201 Nickel Plate South St., Louisville, OH. 44641).

The winner will face the winner from the other side of the bracket featuring Massillon Jackson (Canton District Champion) vs. Walsh Jesuit (Hudson District Champion) which will be played before the Brunswick/Mentor semi-final game.  The Regional Championship game will be played at Louisville High School on Friday, May 31st, at 5:00pm.  The winner will advance to the Final Four which will be played at Canal Park in Akron, June 7-9.

Regional Baseball Tickets can be purchased at the game for $7 (there are no school pre-sales).  As an OHSAA tournament game, there are no passes accepted.

Go Big Blue!
