The 2018 version of Lady Blue Devils Soccer is gaining attention not only locally and in the State of Ohio, but nationally as the Brunswick High School Girls Soccer team is currently ranked #14 in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer. Coach Scott Ward returns a strong cast from last years squad which finished 10-5-4 in the always difficult Greater Cleveland Conference.
The Blue Devils are ranked 2nd amongst teams in the State of Ohio (#12 Indian Hill), and are also joined by fellow GCC opponents Strongsville (#20) and Medina (#38). Other Ohio schools ranked include Walsh Jesuit (#16), Summit Country Day (#30), Loveland (#36), and Perrysburg (#41).
The Blue Devils will open their season next Friday (August 17th) at 6:00pm vs. Padua which will also feature the Blue Devils boys vs. Padua at 8:00pm; all part of Friday Night Futbol.
See below the excerpt about the #14 ranked Blue Devils:
|14||Brunswick Brunswick, OH||0-0-0|
|Outlook: With nine returning starters, Brunswick projects as an early title favorite in a strong Division I field. This program might remain a factor for years to come as five incoming freshman/sophomores played for Cleveland FC’s 15U team at the US Youth Soccer nationals last month.
Key Players: M Ariella Pitty (Ohio State), M/F Caylee Jozefor (Toledo), GK Sam Grabowski, D Maddy Grabowski, D Mariah Kimble, M/D Alexandra Flowers (Hiram).
Key Matches: Sept. 5 vs. Medina; Sept. 12 vs. Strongsville.
Summary: Brunswick was slowed by injuries last year. If the Blue Devils can avoid injuries in 2018, it should be a strong season.
