Willetts Middle School Wins Match-up of Brunswick Schools
This match-up pitted cross town teams in Brunswick Willetts and Brunswick South against eachother. Taking place at a crowded Willetts Gymnasium, the girls from both teams played hard and put on quite a show for the crowd.
In game one of the 7th grade match, Willetts led early and didn’t let up, leading to a 25-14 first game win.
In game two, the two teams were neck and neck into the twenties when a few clutch serves in a row for South put away the game 25-20.
In the deciding game three, Willetts opened on a 6-0 run, leading to a South timeout. The highlight of the match was a long rally won by Willetts, which made it 13-6 Willetts. Willetts closed the match on a 12-5 run and won game three 25-11.
Grit and determination were the keys to this match as both teams risked life and limb diving for anything close. The end result was a stellar match between Willetts and South.
In the First game, Willetts opened up a 12-8 lead, and also had the highlight of the match when a diving, one handed save gave Willetts momentum and a 20-13 lead. However, South was not done as they went on a 6-2 run to make it 22-19 Willetts. In the end, Willetts ended up winning the game 25-21.
In the Second game, Willetts proved to be too much and pulled away from South, winning the second game 25-13 to take the match in two games.
